First Reconciliation & First Communion
The Sacrament of First Reconciliation is received in January. Children may celebrate their First Communion in a small group at a weekend liturgy or in a large group on a Saturday morning at the end of April / beginning of May.

Children need to attend two years of Religious Education (RE) or attend a Catholic school prior to receiving these Sacraments. Parents are required to attend two mandatory meetings per Sacrament in which the theology, spirituality, preparation, and mechanics of the Sacrament are covered. During this year, parents are also required to meet with the Director of Religious Education to become acquainted and to discuss any pastoral concerns. Parents are asked to work with their children on the appropriate class materials.

Note:  The Religious Education Office is located in the Education Center at 1625 West Highland Avenue.

For more information or to register for Religious Education, please contact Ron Becker at 847.888.4887 or rbecker@mail.e-stthomasmore.org.

Confirmation
The Sacrament of Confirmation is celebrated in the Fall of the student's junior year in high school. A student needs at least two years of religious education or Catholic High School prior to receiving the Sacrament.

There are twelve Confirmation sessions which take place on Sunday mornings. Students are required to attend all nine classes or make up the time on Wednesday afternoons. In addition, students attend a retreat day, a communal penance service, pray a 30 day vigil with their sponsor, and put in service hours.

Each student writes a personal letter to the pastor expressing their desire, which is essential, to receive Confirmation.

Note:  The Religious Education Office is located in the Education Center at 1625 West Highland Avenue.

For more information or to register for Religious Education, please contact Ron Becker at 847.888.4887 or rbecker@mail.e-stthomasmore.org.

Marriage
The Sacrament of Marriage requires a preparation period which begins with the couple contacting the pastor at least six months in advance of the wedding date. Couples meet with a parish priest to set the wedding date and to schedule appointments for marriage planning. They are required to participate in a marriage preparation program, which is sponsored at the parish or at the diocese.

To schedule your initial appointment, please contact Father Geoffrey Wirth at 847.888.1682 x15 or gwirth@stthomasmorechurch.org.
